Momentum

All pilots should by now be familiar with the problems arising from momentum. The effects of momentum are of greater importance in formation flying than in any other form of air work. Whenever rejoining, changing or correcting station, the controls must be altered appropriately before the required position is attained. For example, when catching, the power must be reduced as you approach the correct position, otherwise you will overshoot the echelon line.
