Formation Go-around (Overshoot)

If a go-around should be required, the Lead should transmit an advisory (Formation Callsign), going around. The Lead will then smoothly increase to full power and maintain a minimum of 80 kts. This will require a slightly lower attitude than the normal climb attitude initially.

Note: If the Lead initiates a go-around, all following aircraft must go-around.

When established in the overshoot, the Lead will carry out the 'After Take-Off Checks', setting MAP at full throttle RPM minus 2" (as soon as practical in the overshoot), as per a formation takeoff. The following aircraft must anticipate.

If one of the formation other than the Lead requires a go-around, then she or he should transmit an advisory (Formation Callsign), going around and complete a normal circuit to recover as an individual aircraft, no longer in the formation.

Important:

If the Lead decides to go-around, all other aircraft in the formation must also go-around.

If any one of the wingmates decides to go-around, the aircraft going around are no longer considered part of the formation. Normal separation and an individual circuit is required, with the callsign reverting to the aircraft's registration.
