Installing the DITA Open Toolkit

This topic details how to install the DITA Open Toolkit distributed with WinANT from within the WinANT application.

You must install the Java SDK before installing the DITA Open Toolkit.

Use this procedure if you don't currently have the DITA Open Toolkit installed. If you have previously installed the Open Toolkit, you don't need to install it again.

  1. Start WinANT.
  2. From the Tools menu, select DITA OT, then Install DITA Open Toolkit. The WinANT DITA Open Toolkit Installation dialog box will display.
  3. In the Choose Installation Folder field, enter the folder you want to install the DITA OT into, using the Ellipsis button button to browse for a folder.
  4. In the Where's Java? field, enter the folder where you previously installed the Java SDK, using the Ellipsis button button to browse for the folder.
  5. Click Install. The DITA Open Tookit will be unzipped into the specified installation folder.
WinANT can now be used (as an interface to the DITA Open Toolkit) to produce output from DITA source files. To check functionality, use the Generate Sample Output feature.
