Automating Builds

This topic explains how to set up automated regular builds of DITA publications using the batch and build files generated by WinANT.

Use this task is you wish to automatically generate publications from the DITA source project files. At regular intervals, the DITA Open Toolkit build process will trigger, generating the output publication as specified in the WinANT build file.

  1. Build the project (that you want to automatically build in future) normally using WinANT.
  2. Save the files in the output folder onto a shared folder on a network file server. You may need to manually adjust the winant.xml build file so that it specifies the correct location of the source DITA files.
  3. On the network file server, set up a Scheduled Task to execute the winant.bat batch file at regular intervals.
