WinANT Help

Working with Conditional Tags

This task topic describes the process for using conditional tags.
Have a plan for how you want to control the display of your content, and what output you want to produce.

Conditional tags are a tool for producing single source content.

Use the Conditional tab in WinANT when you want to control the display of certain elements in your published output.

For example, software documentation might contain detailed installation instructions as well as high level operational procedures. You can use the Audience element to tag the content as being suitable for system administrators or normal users.

When you configure your transformation settings in WinANT, you can choose to produce output suitable for system administrators, and then produce another output for operational users.

  1. Use metadata elements in your DITA file to identify your content.
  2. Use the Conditional tab in WinANT to control the display of your content.
  3. Transform your content to produce targetted output.
